Força Ukraine

How it started

In 2022, The Força Foundation approved the formation of Ukraine-specific healthcare initiative following the identification of a continued need for advanced pre-hospital trauma education. Força Ukraine was established and is run by dedicated medical professionals, all of whom volunteer their time on each deployment, and Ukrainian Translators, providing a recurrent presence in Ukraine to provide advanced pre-hospital trauma education for Ukrainian medics, first responders, and civilians. Força Ukraine utilizes an expeditionary model to provide training in the areas of highest need where historically there have been few training opportunities.

Ultimately, Força Ukraine is committed to assisting in developing an organic training capacity within Ukraine. We know that iterative training from outside Ukraine is not the ideal solution. Ensuring that we train the trainer and invest in Ukrainian providers remains a key component of our work. To date, the team has trained over 1100 personnel, donated $60,000 in medical equipment directly into the hands of providers, raised $100,000 for Ukraine, and continue to learn and refine our approach for future medical missions in Ukraine.

At Força, we are committed to purchasing as much as we can in Ukraine to ensure we meet our threefold Foundational promise to support the local economy by making our donor dollars go as far as possible with high quality, but less expensive products, and ensure we provide tools that are available locally. We are able to purchase the best tourniquets in the world from Dnipro TQ, as well as blood kits, gauze, and pressure dressings. However, there are still some things that are not available locally- like surgical airway kits and chest decompression needles. For these, we work closely with our friends at NAR and Chinook Medical, who provide us with discounts to again, make our budget go as far as we can stretch it to do the most good in Ukraine.
