Discussion Panel and Stop The Bleed Training in Chicago: July 19-20, 2024

On July 19th, 2024, hosted by Ukrainian Daughters Foundation, a significant and heartfelt discussion event took place, featuring Dr. Steve Donnelly and Team Interpreter Viktoriia. They had the honor of speaking about their vital work in Ukraine, sharing personal stories and experiences from the ongoing full-scale invasion war. The event, attended by community members and supporters, shed light on the resilience of the Ukrainian people and the critical medical aid being provided amidst the conflict.

Dr. Steve Donnelly, a dedicated medical professional, and Viktoriia, a English-Ukrainian interpreter with firsthand experience, captivated the audience with their vivid accounts of life in Ukraine during the war. They highlighted the bravery of Ukrainian civilians, Combat Medics, Nurses and Doctors, emphasizing the importance of international support and solidarity. The discussion underscored the dire need for medical supplies and the continuous efforts of Força Ukraine.

Life-Saving Skills for the Community

The following day, July 20th, Dr. Donnelly and Viktoriia put on a Stop The Bleed class. Hosted again by the amazing Ukrainian Daughters Foundation. Participants had the invaluable opportunity to learn critical skills such as tourniquet placement and wound packing. This hands-on training, with life-like wounds, equipped individuals with the knowledge to respond effectively in emergencies, potentially saving lives in critical situations. The class received positive feedback, with attendees expressing gratitude for the practical skills gained and the chance to contribute to a life-saving cause.

A Call For Continued Support

The discussion event and training class were not just about sharing stories and teaching skills; they were a call to action. The community’s support is essential in sustaining the ongoing efforts to aid Ukraine. Steve and Viktoriia emphasized that every contribution, no matter how small, makes a significant impact on the lives of those affected by the war.

In addition to raising awareness and providing training, the event also served as a fundraising platform for the upcoming mission in September. The team of Força Ukraine are currently preparing for another crucial trip back to Ukraine, where they will continue their work in delivering medical aid and advanced pre-hospital trauma training. Donations collected during the event will go directly towards purchasing medical supplies and gear for the mission.
